Terms of Service
Last updated: August 27, 2026
Welcome to Western JETS.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Western Joint Electrical Training Society (“Western JETS”, “WJETS”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) website, member services, online learning systems, course registrations, training programs, applications, training requests, and other services we provide.
By accessing or using Western JETS services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the applicable service.
About Western JETS
Western JETS provides electrical training, education, training coordination, online learning, and related programs and services.
Western JETS training and member services are primarily intended for eligible members in good standing of participating IBEW Locals, including Locals 230, 993, and 1003. Some programs or courses may have different eligibility requirements.
Access to a particular course or service does not guarantee that you are eligible to participate. Eligibility may be confirmed by Western JETS before or after registration.
Eligibility
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms.
Certain courses, online learning programs, applications, or other Western JETS services may have minimum age requirements or additional eligibility requirements. Those requirements will be identified as part of the applicable program or registration process.
If a program requires a participant to be at least 18 years old, a person under 18 may not accept the applicable agreement on their own. Western JETS should be contacted for information about any alternate consent or participation process that may be available.
You agree not to misrepresent your age, identity, union membership, qualifications, eligibility, or other information relevant to a Western JETS program.
Member Accounts
Some Western JETS services require a user account.
When creating or maintaining an account, you agree to provide information that is reasonably accurate, current, and complete.
You are responsible for:
- maintaining the security of your username and password;
- keeping your contact and membership information reasonably up to date;
- activity that occurs through your account; and
- notifying Western JETS if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
Accounts are intended for individual use unless Western JETS expressly permits otherwise. You may not allow another person to use your account to complete training, assessments, examinations, or other activities on your behalf.
Western JETS may verify membership or eligibility information with the appropriate participating organization where reasonably necessary to administer its programs.
Course Registration
Course registration is subject to availability, eligibility requirements, prerequisites, class-size limits, scheduling, instructor availability, and any other requirements identified for the course.
Submitting a registration does not necessarily guarantee a place in a course.
Western JETS may:
- confirm or decline a registration;
- maintain a waiting list;
- change instructors;
- change the training location;
- change course dates or times;
- move training between in-person and online delivery where appropriate;
- postpone a course;
- combine course sessions; or
- cancel a course.
We will make reasonable efforts to notify affected participants when significant changes occur.
Training Requests
Western JETS may allow members to request training that is not currently scheduled.
A training request indicates interest in a particular course or type of training. It is not a course registration and does not guarantee that the requested training will be offered.
Courses may be scheduled based on factors such as member demand, instructor availability, funding, facilities, equipment, and program priorities.
Cancellations and No-Shows
Course registrations are subject to the Western JETS No Show and Cancellation Policy.
Unless otherwise stated for a particular course, members who register for scheduled training must provide at least seven days’ notice if they need to cancel.
Late cancellations and failure to attend registered training may result in consequences under the No Show and Cancellation Policy, including the requirement to pay a registration fee for subsequent training.
Exceptions may be considered in circumstances identified in the No Show and Cancellation Policy or in other extraordinary circumstances considered by Western JETS.
The current No Show and Cancellation Policy published by Western JETS forms part of these Terms.
Where a particular program or course has its own cancellation or refund conditions, those specific conditions will apply to that registration.
Course Fees and Payments
Some Western JETS training is provided without a registration fee to eligible participants, while other courses or programs may require payment.
Where payment is required, the applicable price and payment requirements will be provided before registration is completed.
Payments may be processed through a third-party payment provider. Western JETS does not necessarily receive or store all payment-card information submitted to that provider.
Fees, deposits, refunds, and cancellations are subject to the terms presented for the applicable course and the Western JETS No Show and Cancellation Policy.
If Western JETS cancels a course for which a participant has paid a course fee, Western JETS will advise affected participants of the applicable refund, credit, rescheduling, or other options.
Nothing in these Terms limits refund or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Online Training
Western JETS may provide training through Moodle or other online learning platforms and service providers.
Online training may require:
- a compatible computer or device;
- a reliable Internet connection;
- a supported web browser;
- video or audio capability;
- third-party software;
- attendance at scheduled online sessions;
- completion of assignments or assessments; or
- other equipment or materials specified for the course.
You are responsible for ensuring that you meet the technical requirements provided for a course.
Western JETS is not responsible for a participant’s Internet connection, computer equipment, software configuration, or other personal technical problems that prevent participation.
Online Assessments and Course Completion
Some courses may include quizzes, examinations, assignments, attendance requirements, practical assessments, or other requirements for successful completion.
You agree to complete assessments honestly and in accordance with instructions provided by Western JETS or the applicable instructor.
Unless expressly permitted, you may not:
- have another person complete training or assessments for you;
- provide answers to another participant;
- obtain answers through unauthorized means;
- use unauthorized reference materials;
- circumvent assessment controls; or
- falsely represent that you completed training or an assessment.
Western JETS may withhold or revoke course completion, certificates, or training records where it reasonably determines that course requirements were not legitimately completed.
Certificates and Training Records
A certificate of completion, training record, credit, or other recognition may be issued only when the applicable course requirements have been successfully completed.
Western JETS does not guarantee that every course, certificate, or training program will satisfy the requirements of an employer, regulator, licensing authority, union, government program, or other third party unless specifically stated.
Participants are responsible for confirming that a particular course satisfies any external certification, licensing, continuing-education, or employment requirement that applies to them.
Safety and In-Person Training
Electrical work and practical training may involve tools, equipment, energized or de-energized electrical systems, heights, machinery, personal protective equipment, and other hazards.
Participants must follow:
- instructor directions;
- applicable safety rules;
- facility rules;
- personal protective equipment requirements; and
- applicable laws, regulations, standards, and safe-work procedures.
A participant may be removed from a training activity if Western JETS or an instructor reasonably believes that the participant’s conduct presents a safety risk to themselves or others.
Participants must not attend practical training while impaired by alcohol, cannabis, illegal drugs, medication, fatigue, or any other condition that makes participation unsafe.
Course Materials and Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, course materials and original content provided by Western JETS are owned by Western JETS or used with permission from the applicable copyright holder.
This may include:
- written course materials;
- presentations;
- videos;
- photographs;
- diagrams;
- assessments;
- website content;
- online course content;
- graphics;
- software;
- databases;
- logos; and
- other training resources.
Subject to any additional conditions provided with a course, participants are granted a limited right to access and use course materials for their own personal training and educational purposes.
You may not, without permission:
- reproduce or republish substantial portions of course materials;
- distribute course materials to others;
- sell or commercially exploit course materials;
- publicly post restricted training content;
- record courses where recording is prohibited;
- distribute examination or assessment questions or answers; or
- remove copyright, trademark, or ownership notices.
Materials provided by third-party training providers may be subject to additional license terms imposed by those providers.
Recording Training Sessions
Participants may not audio-record, video-record, photograph, screen-record, livestream, or otherwise reproduce a training session unless permission has been provided by Western JETS and, where applicable, the instructor.
Western JETS may record certain online or in-person sessions for training, administrative, or educational purposes.
Where participants may appear or be heard in a recording, Western JETS will provide notice or obtain consent where required.
Third-Party Training and Services
Western JETS may use or provide access to services operated by third parties.
These may include:
- learning-management systems;
- online course providers;
- video-conferencing platforms;
- payment processors;
- testing and examination services;
- training providers;
- government resources; and
- other educational or administrative services.
Third-party services may have their own terms of use and privacy policies.
Western JETS does not control those services and cannot guarantee their continued availability, security, functionality, or accuracy.
Links to Other Websites
The Western JETS website may contain links to websites operated by other organizations.
A link does not necessarily mean that Western JETS endorses all information, products, services, or opinions provided on the linked website.
Western JETS is not responsible for the content, security, availability, privacy practices, or terms of third-party websites.
Information and Training Content
Western JETS makes reasonable efforts to provide useful and accurate training and information.
However, electrical codes, regulations, standards, certification requirements, technologies, and industry practices may change.
Participants should use the current applicable codes, regulations, manufacturer instructions, safety procedures, and requirements of the relevant authority having jurisdiction when performing electrical work.
Website or course information should not be treated as a substitute for requirements imposed by legislation, regulation, an authority having jurisdiction, an employer, or an applicable safety program.
User Submissions
You may provide information to Western JETS through training requests, applications, surveys, forms, evaluations, correspondence, or other services.
You are responsible for ensuring that information you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to provide it.
You must not knowingly submit unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, malicious, infringing, or misleading material.
Acceptable Use
You may use Western JETS systems only for legitimate purposes related to the services we provide.
You may not:
- use Western JETS services for an unlawful or unauthorized purpose;
- impersonate another person;
- provide fraudulent membership or eligibility information;
- access another person’s account without authorization;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to Western JETS systems;
- interfere with the security or operation of the website or learning systems;
- introduce malware or harmful code;
- engage in phishing, fraud, or spam;
- collect information about other users without authorization;
- circumvent access restrictions;
- attempt to obtain restricted course or assessment materials;
- use automated tools in a way that places an unreasonable load on our systems;
- systematically scrape or reproduce protected course content; or
- use Western JETS systems in a way that interferes with training or the ability of others to use our services.
Reasonable indexing of publicly available portions of the Western JETS website by ordinary search engines is permitted.
Participant Conduct
Western JETS expects participants to behave professionally and respectfully toward instructors, staff, other participants, and partner organizations.
Harassment, threats, violence, discrimination, deliberate disruption, unsafe behavior, or other serious misconduct may result in removal from a course or restriction of access to Western JETS services.
Serious conduct or safety concerns may result in immediate action without prior warning.
Account Suspension and Termination
You may stop using Western JETS online services at any time.
Western JETS may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to an account, course, program, or online service when we reasonably believe that:
- these Terms have been violated;
- information provided about eligibility or identity is materially inaccurate;
- fraudulent or dishonest activity has occurred;
- a security risk exists;
- unlawful activity has occurred;
- assessment integrity has been compromised;
- another person’s rights have been violated; or
- a participant has seriously disrupted or endangered a training program.
Where practical and appropriate, Western JETS may provide notice or an opportunity to address the issue before access is terminated. Serious situations may require immediate action.
Suspension or termination does not necessarily require Western JETS to delete training, administrative, financial, safety, or participation records that must reasonably be retained.
Availability of Services
Western JETS aims to keep its website and online services available, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed.
Services may be temporarily unavailable because of:
- maintenance;
- technical problems;
- Internet outages;
- third-party service failures;
- security incidents;
- instructor availability;
- changes to programs; or
- circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Features, courses, programs, and services may be added, changed, suspended, or discontinued.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Western JETS websites and online systems are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the extent permitted by law, Western JETS does not guarantee that:
- online services will always be available or error-free;
- every piece of website or training information will always be complete or current;
- a particular course will be offered at a particular time or location;
- completion of a course will result in employment, promotion, licensing, certification, or other particular outcome; or
- third-party services will remain available.
Nothing in these Terms excludes any right or warranty that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Western JETS and its directors, officers, employees, instructors, contractors, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from the use of Western JETS websites, online systems, or services.
This may include losses arising from service interruptions, unavailable third-party systems, loss of data, reliance on outdated information, or a participant’s failure to meet technical requirements.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.
Nothing in this section is intended to waive or alter any separate release, assumption-of-risk form, safety agreement, course agreement, or other agreement that may apply to a particular training activity.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Western JETS and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, instructors, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from:
- your unlawful misuse of Western JETS services;
- material you submit;
- your violation of these Terms; or
- your violation of another person’s rights.
Privacy
Western JETS’ collection, use, retention, and disclosure of personal information is governed by the Western JETS Privacy Policy and any additional privacy or collection notice provided for a particular program.
Program-specific privacy notices may apply to information collected for government-funded, research, assessment, or other specialized programs.
Additional Program Terms
Some Western JETS courses, programs, applications, or third-party services may have additional terms, waivers, policies, eligibility requirements, privacy notices, or agreements.
Those additional terms apply in addition to these Terms.
If a program-specific term directly conflicts with these general Terms, the more specific term will apply to that program to the extent of the conflict.
Changes to These Terms
Western JETS may update these Terms as its programs, services, technology, legal requirements, or operating practices change.
The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
For significant changes, Western JETS may provide additional notice where appropriate.
Continued use of Western JETS services after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada.
Any dispute relating to these Terms or Western JETS services will be subject to the courts having jurisdiction in British Columbia unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
No Waiver
If Western JETS does not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not mean Western JETS has waived its right to enforce that provision later.
