Accessibility Statement

Last updated: August 27, 2026

Western Joint Electrical Training Society (“Western JETS” or “WJETS”) is committed to providing a website and online services that are accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.

We want members, students, instructors, employers, and other visitors to be able to access information, register for training, manage their accounts, and use our online services without unnecessary barriers.

Our Accessibility Commitment

Western JETS aims to follow recognized accessibility best practices and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, where reasonably possible.

We work to make our website:

  • usable with a keyboard without requiring a mouse;
  • compatible with common screen readers and assistive technologies;
  • readable with sufficient colour contrast;
  • understandable when text is enlarged;
  • structured with meaningful headings and labels;
  • usable without relying only on colour to communicate information;
  • accessible on different screen sizes and devices; and
  • clear and consistent in its navigation and content.

Accessibility is an ongoing process, and we continue to review and improve our website as technology, standards, and our services evolve.

Forms and Online Services

Western JETS provides online forms and services for activities such as:

  • creating and managing member accounts;
  • registering for training;
  • requesting training;
  • submitting applications;
  • contacting Western JETS; and
  • accessing online learning.

We aim to make these services accessible to people using keyboards, screen readers, voice-control software, magnification tools, and other assistive technologies.

If you are unable to complete a form or online process because of an accessibility barrier, please contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to provide another way to access the service.

Online Learning

Western JETS may provide online training through Moodle and other learning platforms.

Some online courses may include videos, documents, presentations, quizzes, third-party materials, or interactive content.

We aim to make Western JETS-created learning materials accessible where reasonably possible. Some materials provided by third parties may not be fully within our control.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier in an online course, please contact Western JETS so we can work with you to identify a reasonable solution.

Documents and Downloadable Content

Our website may include PDF files, course manuals, forms, presentations, and other downloadable documents.

We aim to make newly created documents accessible where reasonably possible. Some older documents or materials supplied by third parties may not fully meet current accessibility standards.

If you need a document in a different or more accessible format, please contact us.

Videos and Media

Where practical, Western JETS aims to provide accessible alternatives for important video and audio content, such as captions, transcripts, or written information.

Some older or third-party media may not yet include all accessibility features.

If you need assistance accessing information contained in a video, audio recording, or other media, please contact us.

Third-Party Content and Services

The Western JETS website may link to or use services provided by third parties, including:

  • online learning platforms;
  • video-conferencing services;
  • payment processors;
  • embedded videos;
  • government websites;
  • training providers; and
  • other external resources.

Western JETS cannot control the accessibility of every third-party website or service.

We encourage our service providers and partners to support accessible experiences, and we welcome reports of accessibility barriers involving third-party services used as part of Western JETS programs.

Browser and Assistive Technology Support

We aim to support current versions of commonly used web browsers and assistive technologies.

The website may not work as intended when using significantly outdated browsers, operating systems, or assistive technologies.

For the best experience, we recommend keeping your browser and assistive technology reasonably up to date.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the Western JETS website or online services may not yet be fully accessible.

Potential limitations may include:

  • older PDF documents;
  • third-party course materials;
  • embedded third-party content;
  • older videos without captions or transcripts;
  • complex interactive learning activities; or
  • services operated by external providers.

We view accessibility as an ongoing responsibility and will continue working to identify and address barriers.

Requesting an Accommodation

If a disability or accessibility barrier makes it difficult to use the Western JETS website, register for training, access course materials, or participate in an online service, please contact us.

We will work with you to identify a reasonable alternative or accommodation where possible.

You do not need to provide more personal or medical information than is reasonably necessary for us to understand the accessibility barrier and respond to your request.

Accessibility Feedback

We welcome feedback about the accessibility of the Western JETS website and online services.

If you encounter a barrier, it is helpful if you can tell us:

  • which page, document, course, or feature you were using;
  • what problem you encountered;
  • what browser or assistive technology you were using, if relevant; and
  • how we can contact you if you would like a response.

Providing these details is optional, but they may help us investigate and resolve the issue.
